Posted by A new coffee klatsch with Oprah Winfrey is coming your way. Soon you can listen and watch as Oprah Winfrey reviews her latest favorite book selections with chosen authors over coffee, as the media personality brings back her Book Club in collaboration with Starbucks.
In a new podcast series to show on her YouTube channel, Winfrey plans to hold conversations with “thought leaders, cultural icons, and more,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Once a month the podcast will broadcast from one of various Starbucks locations, where she will share coffee and talk shop with a selected author from Oprah’s Book Club.
In addition to the YouTube channel, audio versions of Oprah’s podcast will be available on all platforms.
“As one of my greatest pride and joys this past 30 years has been introducing books to new audiences, I am delighted to partner with Starbucks as we craft this new podcast,” said Winfrey. “It is the perfect opportunity to bring together readers around things we both love: books, coffee, and conversation.”
This is not the first collaboration between Oprah and the ubiquitous coffee chain. In 1997, Oprah’s Book Club selections were featured in Starbucks coffee shops, with proceeds from the project supporting literacy efforts.
In 2014, she joined forces with Starbucks to create Teavana Oprah Chai Tea, a charitable collaboration which raised $21 million for youth education organizations across the United States.
Plans for her new podcast and the announcement of her latest book club selection were revealed on CBS Mornings, where Oprah appeared with author Claire Keegan, said OprahDaily.com. The partnership with Starbucks coffee shops was also announced at that time.
The inaugural podcast will launch from the Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building location in New York City. In conjunction with every book highlighted in the series, there will be an official Starbucks beverage pairing.
Oprah.com indicates that some of the upcoming authors in the lineup will include Mel Robbins, Daniel Pink, Ina Garten, and US Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy.
Winfrey expressed that “connecting with people about what matters to us in this moment, so we can all continue to reach our highest, truest potential,” is what she is most interested in offering at this point in her life.
