The All American auto dealer (remember “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet?”) leans into nostalgia this Christmas to create a holiday campaign based on family memories – and remind us of the trusty Chevy that was with us all along the way.
The three and a half minute cinematic spot follows a family trip to visit the kids and grandkids, while the now-grandparents look at the empty back seat of their retro Chevy Silverado. As they glance back, they’re transported by flashbacks to memories of family road trips.
Snippets span experiences from toddlerhood to the college years and benchmarks in between. Chevy conjures emotional images that are highly relatable and reminds us this is the meaningful stuff life is made of. The cinematic represents what the auto dealer calls its “Holiday Card to America.”
Mini cinematics are increasingly popular ad forms, especially during the holiday season, as is nostalgia in Christmas advertising. Evoking strong emotional response makes ads memorable and aims to forge a favorable connection with the retailer.
To bolster the campaign, Chevy is taking a road trip of their own across America. The procession will traverse from San Diego to Detroit spanning over 2,900 miles, with stops in Dallas, Nashville, and Atlanta.
Each roadshow stop will bring “holiday magic” to the host city, including the lighting of Christmas trees, a light show, and popups for families that offer s’mores over a hot fire, hot cocoa, and entertainment by local caroling choirs. Chevy will also work with Toys for Tots in each city to spread cheer.
Will the holiday magic Chevy is serving up help boost their bottom line? Read the full story.
