While fans shore up plans for hosting parties and watching the big game, marketers are gearing up for the biggest advertising day of the year, as Superbowl LIX hits TV screens around the country February 9th.
For less avid football fans, watching the commercials has become almost as popular as following the event itself, with advertisers pulling out all the stops to impress during their 30 plus seconds in front of the year’s biggest audience – over 120 million viewers.
From startups to icons of American business, advertisers will pony up an average of $7 million dollars for that thirty seconds of fame, on the gamble that the returns will be worth it. For some, it works. When GoDaddy.com, the professional domain and website service, rolled the dice on its introductory ad in 2005, the fledgling company generated a 378 percent increase in web traffic to its site.
Other well established names like Budweiser have become synonymous with the event, coming back for another visit with the beloved Clydesdales that have become a classic fixture of the day and an anticipated bit of Americana.
Most of 2025’s advertising slots were sold out back in November of ’24, indicating no slow down in the popularity of Superbowl marketing, despite the hefty price tag and high expectations. Here are some of the names you can expect to see showing up on Game Day this year.
Returning for a third consecutive year is Molson’s brand, Coors Light, who will offer a new take on their “Choose Chill” platform, which is aimed to “bring chill” to the Monday after the Super Bowl. Their research indicated 60 percent of Americans and Canadians admit to having a “case of the Mondays” in the aftermath of the big game.
Hershey’s Reese’s will post two 15-second spots after their successful 2024 experience, focusing on the craziness of their fans by featuring a wacky grandma and a runaway bride.
Newcomers Duracell, Haagen-Dazs, and MSC Cruises enter the arena this year to make their Super Bowl debut. The battery brand intends to show what it means to be “built different,” with rumors it will bring out its Duracell Scientist character that was teased in last year’s Ad Week New York.
Haagen-Dazs is expected to capitalize on its “That’s Dazs” campaign, with a spot titled, “Engines On.” The teaser shows a car with a Haagen-Dazs license plate speeding away, but has yet to reveal the secret driver or mysterious destination.
MSC Cruises intends to unveil its upcoming flagship, the MSC World America, to the nation’s viewers in its Super Bowl ad debut. The cruise line will lean into two celebrities who will travel on the new ship, but whose identity is still under wraps.
Other returnees are Fan Duel’s Kick of Destiny, Doritos, GoDaddy, and numerous others. Read more to find out who will fill up those famed 50 minutes of advertising slots in Superbowl LIX.
