Winnie the Pooh fans can have an immersive experience in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the beloved children’s character and world’s favorite teddy bear. Disney has teamed with Airbnb to create a “Bearbnb” getaway, designing a human-sized rendition of Winnie the Pooh’s house in the Hundred Acre Wood for overnight accommodations.
The actual structure is complete with exposed tree branches, references to Mr. Sanders, and of course comes with plenty of pots of honey on the shelves inside the themed-wallpapered cottage. It is authentically situated in Ashdown Forest, England, which was the inspiration for the author A.A. Milne’s famed tales about Pooh Bear and his friends’ escapades in the Hundred Acre Woods.
Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the Hundred Acre Woods during their stay, and are invited to play “Poohsticks” on the nearby bridge – a game invented in Milne’s classic “House on Pooh Corner” installation. The cottage is also appointed with wellness equipment for guests, such as yoga mats and throws, although more in keeping with the spirit of Winnie the Pooh himself, taking multiple naps is encouraged.
The Bearbnb can accommodate a family of four, and booking is available September 24th or 25th to the general populous, following a go-live date of September 20th targeted for the United Kingdom only.
Airbnb isn’t the only company to highlight Pooh’s 95th anniversary. Lego released a 1,200 piece construction set earlier this year, complete with figurines of Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, Tigger, and Eeyore. The Bearbnb is also not the first of Airbnb’s themed listings. Other promotions have included Downton Abbey, a scary night in the Paris catacombs on Halloween, and even Van Gogh’s bedroom in conjunction with the Chicago Institute of Art.
